Who makes this web site?
Ours is a community web site. It has been developed and is maintained by a range of network volunteers. We welcome contributions to the site's content, and new webteam volunteers. Please contact our committee via the Contact Us form or directly to
with any comments or queries.
Our website's history
The KEDRON BROOK CATCHMENT NETWORK (KBCN) web site project was an initiative of a member of one of it's groups, the Grinstead Park Bushcare Group.
The web site project was taken up by the network as the advantages of a more comprehensive catchment site were soon apparent. A Brisbane City Council community internet initiative became available.
BCC's Online Business & Community Partnership
In Nov 2000, BCC announced its 'ourbrisbane.com' internet strategy.
The strategy encompassed eight programs aimed at ensuring that Brisbane residents and businesses were able to realise the benefits of technology and the Internet. These included:
- the ourbrisbane.com portal (a mega integrated website structure). This went to air in August 2001.
- Communities Online
- Business Online
The Online Business & Community Partnership was developed as a joint initiative of these programs. The program aimed to develop and test a set of online tools to assist community and business groups to get online.
In February 2002, sixteen projects were selected to develop partnerships, including ours. The first public release of the network was July 2002, and these partnerships continued up to late 2006.
Our web site's aims
The KBCN web site project was developed by the KBCN as a means to implementing the aims of the network.
- to facilitate communication between individuals, community volunteers including Bushcare Groups, government and non-government organizations, and the community at large,
- to provide information for the use of volunteers, Bushcare Groups, other organizations, and the community at large to encourage the participation and cooperation of people including the general community in the care of the Brook's habitat

The Future: A more dynamic & comprehensive site
The previous server site with "ourbrisbane" was a database file management system operated by Fusion. In late 2006, this arrangement came to an end though this did not finish our splendid assistance from the Brisbane City Council through project funding and staff technical support. We now operate our web site independantly with a more traditional web page mangement system with "server101.com" hosting.
Our web site changes and develops as our network's resources and volunteer's time allow. With time we will upgrade web design and content. We welcome new volunteers and contributors to its operation. Contact
with any comments or queries.
