Ferny Grove State High Measures Fish Life at Cedar Creek 1

There's always lots to do when you conduct a "fishshot" survey.

  • You need to study the area and plan how you are going to conduct your survey.
  • You then need to draw up a plan of the survey area. The plan will show how you are going to sample from the stream in a representative manner.
  • Your leader will need to coordinate the fish team so everyone knows how they all fit in their work together

We study the area and draw a map

Study the area first and draw up a map to show where we mean to sample.

The group writes up the plan

Write up details of which samples we mean to take and how, why and where.

Our leader explains how we do the job

Michael Nunn assembles the fish sampling team and points out details shown in the plan

We ensure all the details are covered

Make sure all details are covered

check out the water quality first

Check the instruments

Check you are using your gloves

Don't forget your gloves here!

We'll need to analyse the water quality before we disturb the area. Don't forget the gloves and read the instructions carefully first!
