Meetings & Greetings Our next General and Network Meeting - Tuesday, 17 April 2012
This meeting will be at our usual meeting place at Downfall Creek Bushland Centre, 815 Rode Road, McDowall. Finger food and drink at 7 pm for meeting at 7.30 pm - 9.30 pm. We are looking forward to having Sarah Bell to do a talk on one of our important projects,Gliders, for the April Branch and Network meeting. Come along! Our next planting in this project is on Saturday 3 March, 2012, 8.00 am to 12.00 md at Bob Cassimaty Park Picnic Grounds (opposite BP Service Station on Samford Road) at Ferny Grove (UBD Map 137 ref LI). This will cover Stage 2 of the plantings. Our usual morning tea may be held towards the end of the planting depending upon the nature of the day. This is a joint project involving Queensland Rail, BCC, Men of the Trees (MOTT), KBCB and local bushcare groups and community. Regular planting and maintenance activities are being programmmed for this project to continue right through to January 2013. (21 February 2012) A popular view upstream of the bikeway bridge near Pony Club Bend. (8 November 2011) A wall of Lantana over a steep bank does not overawe this small group at Pony Club Bend, Mitchelton. The steady advance into the weed mass through the planting of suitably sized plants gradually eats away the Japanese Sunflower (followed by regular close weeding!). Morning strollers on the bikeway near Pony Club Bend on a pleasant sunny morning. |
