KBCB – August Monthly Bird Walk

Grange Forest Park/Alderley Grove/Raymont Road

What started off as a cool morning warmed up beautifully for our latest bird walk along Kedron Brook bikeway. We began at Mornington Street Park and followed a circuitous route along bikeway to back of Stafford City Shopping Centre, then back through Grange Forest Park to our starting point.

Eight bird enthusiasts joined walk and together we identified an impressive 34 species! As sun climbed higher, many small birds could be seen warming themselves in morning light.

Highlights from day included:

  • A majestic Brown Goshawk
  • A elusive Tawny Grassbird
  • Chattering Chestnut-breasted Mannikins
  • Three types of wrens!
  • A melodic Rufous Whistler

It was a wonderful morning of connection nature and fellow bird lovers. Thanks to everyone who came along and shared their keen eyes and ears.
